“The employment Bureau have such great advice and communication which I think was key to me firstly securing an interview and secondly securing a graduate job – I can’t thank them enough!” – Amy Mowatt, LLB Law, Paralegal

“Working for the Employment Bureau has given me the opportunity to meet and work with other ARU students, earn money, and create a well-rounded university experience where my studies are complimented and balanced with an array of fun and interactive job roles. As a Student Ambassador, I help to organise and work events on campus including school visits, conferences, interview & open days and even travel to schools to give student life talks. I am able to find jobs that fit around my university schedule and have gained transferable skills such as public speaking and event organisation, which will be invaluable in my future career. The Employment Bureau staff are always helpful and supportive, and working with them has made the experience that much more enjoyable.” – Olivia Zolke, PhD International Relations, Student Ambassador

“Having looked after our companies recruitment and Rota process for 6 years, I only wish I had come across ARU Employment Bureau and their students sooner! The efficient staff and booking system with the bureau ensures that students are booked efficiently and in good time ahead of our events, they were flexible with their availability which was really helpful to me at that busy time of the year. I hope that we can replica the same for this year and future years” – Samantha Bird, The Cambridge Dining Company

“I have been working for the EB for a couple of years now. I work one to one with students and also in small groups invigilating, reading and scribing. I love the work and find it very rewarding! The staff at the EB work very hard and are really helpful and supportive. If I have any queries they are always sorted out quickly and I feel confident I am doing a good job. I would recommend the EB to anyone looking to work with students.”  – Tanya Blakelock, Invigilator

“A year ago, I would never have imagined I could speak in front of a lecture theatre that seats 300 people, due to my anxiety. Having undergone training sessions that have boosted my confidence and communication skills as a Student Ambassador, I can not only speak to a large crowd, but I actually enjoy it! The opportunities are amazing and I have worked in a wide range of jobs with various teams within the University. It’s a great way to earn extra money as the work hours are flexible and are scheduled around my study hours. To top it off, the inclusive and friendly work environment means I always have a fun time working. Working for the Employment Bureau has honestly made my time at ARU unforgettable.” – Karen Lourdes, MSc Applied Wildlife Conservation, Student Ambassador

“I love working for the EB as it gives me the flexibility to work around my studies without any weekly commitments. It has helped me to develop my confidence and communication skills and I now enjoy speaking to large groups of people (something I was previously terrified of!) I have so many friends and connections within the university and genuinely love the work I get to do!” – Emma Scriven, Business and Human Resource Management, Student Ambassador

“To have an employment bureau as part of our employability service at Anglia Ruskin University is a great service for both our students and staff. Whenever I am in need of a students ambassador for a marketing and recruitment event (e.g. open day, school visit) the EB is my first point of call. The staff are always helpful, reliable and keen to help- they will do whatever they can to help fill my ambassador vacancies even if it is at short notice. I’ve always been impressed at the quality of candidates that come through the EB and this is largely down to the work and thorough training both the EB and our Schools and Engagement Team provide. Working as an ambassador for ARU is a great opportunity for all students and really helps with employability post university. The ambassador role looks good on your CV, it improves skill such as communication and teamwork and helps top up the bank balance. Why not check out this blog from one of our nursing students, Abbi, about how working through the employment bureau supports her studies.”  – Jonathan Secker, Health, Education, Medicine and Social Care Marketing Manager.

I have made so many new friends and this has made my move over to Cambridge a great experience. The freedom of choosing which shifts fit within my studies really helps me create a great balance of studying and working. “The EB have always been a huge support to me. I began working with them to find employment within the university itself, working as a tutor to students in the years below me as well as contact prospective students before they joined us. These roles have vastly improved my CV. More recently, the EB have been helping me to find job roles suited to me, assisted with my CV and providing interview tips. Every one of the EB members of staff care about your success and I feel they really go the extra mile to help you achieve your goals. I can walk in to an interview feeling positive and confident when I have their help and support behind me.” – Charlotte Andrews BSc Psychology, PR and Communication Recruitment Consultant

The staff at the Employment Bureau are really friendly and supportive, they train you and tell you exactly what they want you to do.
